maxflinn:no , just regular chord silverscreen 6th , should i get them to send me some with the arcam ??

If you want all to look fine 'n' dandy, and have sufficient budget, get some Chord Silverscreen Bi-wire.

Or simply order two more runs of Chord Silverscreen single-wire, save many ?s, and then hook 'em up appropriately.

Whichever option you choose, Arcam amps respond very well to 4>4 bi-wiring - as mentioned previously...

daveh75:Wouldn't waste your money max...I've never found bi-wiring beneficial.

Regarding other amps, you're arguably 100% correct.

But an Arcam integrated has four outlets per speaker channel - as do Cyrus?? - so when bi-wired 4-to-4 with SP1 and SP2 selected/'on' there are significant all-round benefits IME.

And having owned various Arcam stereo and A/Vamps, i still maintain it makes no difference

Bi wiring a speaker and the benefits of it are down to the speaker of choice and and complexity of the crossover. A complex crossover (not sure what MA are) may benefit from bi-wiring and on the other hand a simple crossover (like Rega) will offer no advantage.

Wut??!!

Are you saying you tried the 4-to-4/SP1+SP2 setup and it made no difference? I'm stunned!

(No offence intended BTW.

)Tried 2-to-4 from same outputs, 4-to-4 from both outputs and makes no significant difference- Always found better** single runs to be more beneficial than bi-wiring...

**By better i dont necessarily mean more expensive.

None taken,BTW

By coincidence, I've just gone back to single wiring, from bi-wired for the last 13 years. Thought I'd give some generic 322-strand cable a go and it's been rather good. The 752s are no longer biwired and I made up some jumper cables from some spare speaker cable offcuts and some banana plugs. Works well for me and the Missions!

Blimey. Well, when I bought an A70 I was initially a tad underwhelmed, TBH (had demo'ed the A70 bi-wired). But then swapped QED Silver Anniv' single-wire for QED Original Bi-wire (similar cost to Silver') and bi' made a big difference. (Speakers were Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s.)

Max. Sevenoaks are doing an Arcam trade in deal. Trade in any Arcam item against a new Arcam item and get a discount. Check out their website www.ssav.co.uk for further details.

It might be worth buying an old Arcam unit for trade-in on a new amp.

, the funny thing is , if you leave the forum nothing else changes , you still find yourself (at least i do) sitting in front of the tv , with the laptop open , wondering what difference it makes not posting
emotion-40.gif
.. what i need is a job , im sure im not alone here , but stopping posting isnt going to get me one
emotion-5.gif
..

Ah, you got no work on. mate? That's tough. The days drag when there's no work, eh? I had about five months with only dribs and drabs coming in at the start of the year. You're a landscaper, aint ya?

If you've got nothing coming in for a while, Max, I'd recommend trying to get a bit of gutter clearance and soffit/fascia cleaning. Seriously. i've been doing it, alongside the main business, window cleaning, for the last few years. You'd only need to get some flyers printed up, and go posting through doors. Only an idea, mate, it may not be for you. Did I mention I get around £800 a day for it?

If you are interested mate, let me know and i'll help you with pricing and materials, etc.

£800 a day
emotion-3.gif
, i wouldnt get out of bed for less than a grand
emotion-4.gif
..

i used to have a little brick paving business bretty , until 08 when the lights were turned out , this year ive only done about four jobs , very quiet .. i can put flyers around if i want , but im claiming unemployment benefit , and would get cut off if i was found out , cant take that risk for the probable small amount of work i may drum up
emotion-15.gif
..

anyhows , bob marley is blasting out of my speakers and im drinking a cup of tea , could be worse

Hi maxflinn

As you like Marantz then amps worth keeping a look out for are their PM64, PM84 or PM94.
emotion-1.gif
All three will give you an upgrade and then some especially the PM94. These Marantz amps are quality both inside and out. Old is gold

All the best
