Android Question!

Hi,

Im not sure if this is the correct forum but ill give it a go anyway! Im in the market for an Android phone and im looking at the HTC Desire that runs Android 2.1, the one question I have is should I wait for release 2.2 in a few months or will the Desire be able to receive the 2.2 upgrade? Also if I buy a phone like the Sony Ericsson X10 (mini or pro) that currently run Android 1.6 will that receive the 2.1 or 2.2 upgrade?

As far as I'm aware, the Desire should be upgradeable to 2.2. You can check with the seller if the Sony X10 is upgradeable or not.

The desire should be upgraded to 2.2 when that's released. The problem with the Sony (or so I have read anyway) is that Sony tend to take forever to release their versions of firmware updates. The Desire is more or less pure Android, with HTC Sense and a couple of other bits, and as such updates can be pushed through quite quickly. I think the X10 is more of a drastic customisation and therefore could take longer.

That being said, the HTC Hero is still stuck on 1.6. People thought that would have been updated to 2.0/1 by now.

I got the Desire about a week ago by the way, and it's superb.
