A bit of light relief. I thought it may be fun for people to share any amusing hi fi stories they may have. I myself certainly have a few. If I can get the ball rolling. My interest in hi fi started back in the seventies. My brother, Kevin, who is nine years older, began before me, so I`ll tell this amusing story. He had the usual `starter´ system, Garrard Sp25 mkII with Goldring G800 cartridge, Leak speakers and a Metrosound amp. A very fussy and careful man in every respect, over the top so in fact. Having carefully set up his system, he sent me into town to buy his first LP. I duly went into Sydney Scarborough`s in Hull, and gave the assistant the note written by Kevin. "Could I please have a brand new, stereo, unplayed, copy of Bob Dylan`s Nashville Skyline" The assistant probably thought he was dealing with a loony, (not me!) but found the desired album. On returning home we went into our shared bedroom, where the stereo was set up, to experience the first listen. `First Mike` he said, `sit down on the bed, and don't move!´ Like a good younger brother, I did as I was told. He then, ever so carefully placed the LP onto the turntable and all was ok. A happy and amusing memory. Could be fun for others to share their amusing moments.
