AMP for Elac bs 403

Hi i am currently looking to buy a new AMP for my Elac bs 403's. The amplifier i currently have is the previous Rega brio-r. I am pleased with the Sound this combo makes, though it could use some more power. Furtermore the AMP does run farely hot when i play a little loud.

i use a Rega DAC with TIDAL hi-fi as my primary Music source

Does anyone have any recommendation. Personal experience is prefered My budget is around 1000 pounds.

At that budget what hifi recommends the rega elexr and Naim nait 5si. But Cyrus has some Excellent kit at that price too. I think drummerman knows Cyrus kit well. And he will be able to suggest better than me. If Pacey is one of your priorities then you have to choose between the Naim and Cyrus in my limited knowledge.

Is also a good option. I have one and it is really a good peice of kit. Has a streaming module in built. Supports tidal too.

Good options however I was sorta hopping to hear from guys with other brands/options. I have listened to the naim nc 172 xs with my elac and that sounded pretty good. I prefer that punchy sound from the naim, but missing some warmth. So something in between.

More advices on what to buy/demo are welcome.

Also why not go for the active version? I believe Elac made these or very similar model that was active.

Ideally you need to hear the options for yourself with a home demo the best way to ensure your £1000 is spent wisely. I demoed a Naim Nait 5si, Arcam A29 and Rega Elex-r and much preferred the Elex-r. On home demo the first impression over my older version Rega Brio was how much more powerful it was. So based on your comments above, if available try to demo the Elex-r - for just under £1000 that should be an obvious place to start - especially as you like your Brio. The only reason I dd not buy it was that I was able to double my budget.

I started out on a similar journey to you, there are numerous options and lots of recommendtions based on personal experience, so it depends on whether you want to take a chance on purchasing something you have not heard, or based on your own demo.

Hi. The 172 xs is only a streamer, do you know what power amp was being used?

Unfortunately, the brio r has no pre-out, you could have saved some money with the brilliant Nap100. Mind that not all Naim amps sound the same. If I were in your shoes, I would look for a first gen Nait XS - it's fuller sounding, and some Naim fans actually hated it for that. No other brand I've heard so far has that Naim boogie factor. They do the "hi-fi" thing well, but don't put that grin on my face. But tastes are different, so... Anyway, better value if you go used, and Naim have great resale value.
