To the OP. I tried my 110 with the following amplifiers:

-Creek Evolution: wonderful timing, tight but quite "light" bass

-Creek Power A53 + vishay-dale passive preamp: more of what the Evolution gave. Although I found the treble to be a bit over-emphasized with this pre/power combo.

Currently using: a 15 years old Harman Kardon HK 680. Bought it from Germany in near mint condition, within your budget. The brand is virtually unknown in Britain (the Brits usually prefer to advertise the same 3 or 4 brands of amp and HK doesn't sound hifi enough to some).

Anyway, a beast of an amp and drives the dynaudio beautifully for little money. Try a HK if you find one. Otherwise get a used Creek Evolution, you'll be amazed.

By now, they are 15 cm to the wall... But in the future will be in better place.

Do you thing Dense B100 will be enough for this Focus?

It's 60wx2 I think in pure A.

Hi rsantist

Dynaudio speakers pair well with Densen electronics. Although the Beat B-100 is rated at 60w/ch however (as with all other Densen amplification) this is backed up by a large power power supply and storage capacitance which will help deliver current rich power to maintain stability and energize the Focus 110's just nicely. The Beat B-100 will also double it's power output in text book style into the Focus 110's 4ohm load so unless you're after constant disco like listening levels then the Beat B-100 should have enough quality and quantity of power.

Btw, what genre of music do you generally listen to?

The size of your room?

Your general listening level?

All the best

i'm using a densen b-110 with the same set of speakers in a bedroom setup..quite happy :)

And how far are the speakers set from the wall?

a foot PP.

As i've said above, "..quite happy " for now i guess. i feel dynaudio will perform better @ more than a 60 watter. Plan is to use the b110 as pre amp then add a b320 power amp

Thank you, that's very encouraging. Some say the Focus 110s need a good 3', hence why I've never seriously considered Dyns (I've always admired Dynaudio).

As the Leema has similar sonic traits to the Densen... (sorry, thinking out aloud).

Hi musicraft,

My volume level is mid, a little high but not like a Disco or a gig.

The music I listen, is from Jazz to Techno. Mainly, techno, slow techno, lo-fi, minimal...

An the room now is small like 4x3 m, bu the new amp will go to a 4x9 room. But the place where I will be sitting is about 3m in front of the 2speakers.

In that room I have an H&K Avr5500 for the home cinema 5.1, maybe I'll try how it's working with dynaudio, too.

rsantist,

just in case you can get your hands on an old Densen DM10 that will be way way better, much better than the b100/b110 or even the newer b130  . just ask Rick 8)

I' still thinking about it.... And I wonder if Plinius 9100 would be ok. I know, it's more expensive, but maybe it would be a definitive amp for a future speakers.

Whst do tou think about it? And with focus 110 enough?

Hi rsantist

The Plinius 9100 is a good amp and one which has also got the quality of performance and power to match well with Focus 110's :rockout: Dynaudio speakers also pair well with Plinius amplification :)

All the best

Yesterday I could listen a Plinius 9100 with a pair of Dynaudio Focus 140( similar to my 110)

And I also listened an old Naim 5i with that speakers.

In my opinion the 5i was very musical, elegant, hot, velvet...

Do you know any diference with the new 5i? In terms of sound I mean.

I liked it very much!

Similar range pri ce I can find a Plinius 9100 and Naim XS, I know 9100 is 130w per channel and Naim is 60w.

Both goes well with Dynaudio.

What would you do?

Meanwhile I'm thinking If I fet Naim or Densen, I got a CA 840A V2 in very good price.

This will be for another equipment. So, I need a pair of speakers for the CA and then , another amp like Densen 110 or Naim XS for the main room.

What speakers will feel Ok with the 840A V2 ?

I use a Cambridge 840A V2 with some Dynaudio Excite x32 speakers. CA sounded overly bright with some Dali speakers I tried (Dali Ikon 6 MK2).

Not so with the Dynaudio's.

The sound is wonderfully balanced; neutral yet not clinical/"digital"/cold.

Bass is controlled and tight.

The CA amp feels like a high quality piece of kit.

I would not hesitate buying it and using it with Dynaudio speakers if I was in your shoes.

I have one problem though: In busy passages of music the music gets a little muddy.

I'm not sure what the problem is exactly.

It can be the speakers, or that I've only got them at a 20 cm. distance from the back wall.

It can also be the room acoustics.

Or it can be the amp that is not powerful enough to drive the Dynaudio's.

I'm borrowing a Lyngdorf SDA 2275 power amp soon to check if it helps.

Apart from this, the sound from the CA is, like I said, absolutely wonderful.

Best,

Henrik

Thank you Hbuus ;

Your case, it's important for me. One of my choice would be Dynaudio Excite X-16 or 2/7 against ATC SCM 11.

Why not a 2nd hand Contour 1.3mkII...

I owned the Focus 110 with the Vincent SV-236. A really fantastic combination with an incredibly deep, powerful and controlled bass.
