Hi everybody, it's my 1st post here!

I just wanna know some amplifiers recommendations for this speakers: Dynaudio Focus 110

Budget under 1.000€

I' thinking about a Densen beat B100 mkv, a primare i30 (2nd hand) , a Vincent 236 mk...

Whta's your opinion about them? Any other suggestion?

Thank you

Naim 5i with I think 50wx2 would be enough?

And Cyrus 6xp with 40w per channle?

Or better the 8xp with 70w....this one is 1.400 €

And what about Audiolab 8000? Or a consonace a120 ?

Cambridge Audio 840A V2 or 851A

I saw a 840 A but not V2 I think, about 800€.

It's a good chance the 840a or better the V2?

Depends how loud you like your music, I suppose. If you want wall-shaking levels then definitely no. If you play at low to medium levels then it'll be enough.

Better go with the V2; there are two dealers on Audio Markt that sell their demo units.

Thanks for those links.

I have the option for a Primare i 30.

What do you think about it ? It's good for the Dynaudio's ?

I also had a Cyrus 8XPDQX with my Focus 110. The Cyrus (and Naim) are not really capable of showing what the Focus 110 can do. 😉

The i30 is too laid back and not very detailed for the Dyns; they need a lively, sparkly, perky etc amplifier to weak them up, otherwise they'll sound dull.

For your budget I think the Cambridge 840A V2 is the best option to move your Dyns.

I think your suggestions are OK.

I drove Focuses 110 with my Pathos Classic One mkIII. no problems whatsoever.

If you like the sound of the Focus 110 then why not try the active version of this speaker the Dynaudio Focus 110A which already has an amplifier built into them? The active version also sounds better than the standard speaker in my opinion too.

The amplifiers that are built into the active 110A version are the best possible because they've been specially designed and optimised to work with the Focus 110 drivers.

About Roksan Caspian M2, it's too expensive if I can not find it used.

And about 110A the active ones, I bought them one week ago, so I have no chance for the actives.

Now they are working with a Peachtree Inova and It sounds reallly good.

But I need another amp for another room.

While I can't comment on the Focus 110, I have heard the Dynaudio Dm 2/6s(which the dealer said have the same sound signature) paired with a Cayin a-55t(40watts/channel) and a Cayin cd player. I really loved the results, it was smooth when needed but had the bite when the music required it. The only problem was that even with a tube amp as powerful as the Cayin, it wouldn't go extremely loud in a large living room so that is something to consider. I honestly felt that the Cayin sounded better with the Dynaudio than an audio research amp costing 3 times the price! The main point is, I wouldn't entirely rule out tube amps because not all tube amps sound very tubey and there are certainly a lot of good tube amps out there for 1000 euros

I am glad I bought the active version of the Focus 110. So I do not need to worry about an Amp.

Good luck !

Could anyone else give us an opinion?

In case I chose the CA 840a V2, which Dac would I buy?

Or in case of the Primare i30 which Dac join better?

Budget under 300€

For example: Muiscal fiedility vdac II, or v-link, arcam rdac, asus essence one...

The Dac I need is with toslink and coaxial inputs.

I smell a little UK behaviour in the amps choice.

CA is not recommended outside, i mean with tha sort of prices and equipments we are talking about... 😛

I found this a few days ago...sweet sounds from Dynaudio Focus 110 & Cyrus kit :rockout: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm-fFIuZfJo

i'm using a densen b-110 with the same set of speakers in a bedroom setup..quite happy 🙂

I used a single X Power with these, that is the minimum to really get them singing I would say; since I traded that in for a Belles power amp and that really showed what they can do - i.e. get the best amp you can afford with these speaker, and the recommendation of Densen and Cyrus are good ones.

At first I used these in a bedroom, 3.5m x 3.5m, less than 40cm from the wall, no problems at all. I actually had more problems with boomy bass when I moved into a 4m x 6m living room, with speakers over 60cm from wall (at least, maybe 75cm or so).

What dou mean when u say unique X power amp?

What amp do you use?

By now, they are 15 cm to the wall... But in the future will be in better place.

Do you thing Dense B100 will be enough for this Focus?

It's 60wx2 I think in pure A.

Well, I didn't say "unique", but single, meaning the one amp feeding both speakers (as opposed to bi-amping either in stereo or bridged mono - if you haven't heard of it, don't worry, now is not really the time).

I haven't actually heard the Densen, but 60W sounds like a good start into the Focus 110. As I said before, Focus 110 owners will tell you they simply get better the better amplification you provide. Look for amps that close to double their output into 4 Ohms, that indicates efficient current delivery (again, I'm passing on what I've learned from others here, I'm no electrical engineer!). Having said that, you may be all set for now. You could look into improving the amp in a few months, longer or simply never need to.

I just sold these speakers and now own Totem Model 1 Signature, they are not dissimilar (in fact use the same driver I think), don't get me wrong I loved the Focus 110 just the Totems are in a class above and suit my listening room better.
