Just setting up my LX83 and struggling to fit the banana plugs into the back of the speaker terminals in the back of the amp.

I've used 4mm banana plus but despite me trying they just wont fit in the holes through the cable binding posts, am I missing a trick here chaps as I really don't want to force them?

Thanks in anticipation

Having had a look at the manual for your amp, it only seems to mention connecting bare wire to the terminals. It doesn't seem to say anything about banana plugs, which seems a bit strange... I do know that some speaker terminals have end caps on them which have to be removed when using banana plugs, but I don't know if that is the case with your amp... Can you take one of the binding nuts off the amp to take a closer look and see if there is anything to stop the banana plug from plugging into it?

Clive,

Not treating you like a fool.

Have you removed the plastic bungs from the binding posts, the heads are smaller on the Pioneer than on the Denons and I nearly missed them on my LX72.

They can be a little tricky to remove, I used a small screw popped into the hole in the bung 1/2 a turn on the screw and pulled the bung out.

Also the banana plugs can be very tight, Pioneer do not recommend using banana plugs but I use them anyway.

Glad to hear it was something simple. It's often the smallest things that hold us back so much

cheers Doug, I spent about 30 minutes swearing at it and the manual before thinking to try here and as ever WHF has come up trumps!

Now just need to work out why I can get the sound from my TV's optical out to find it's way to the Pioneer!!??
