I have a lot of holiday films etc taken on our Sony camcorder TRV20E which uses mini DV cassettes. First I bought a cheap DVD player the Denon DVD 1930 recommended by What Hifi. Then when I decided to buy a DVD recorder such as the Sony HXD range the Blue Ray player appeared so I decided to wait to see if a blue ray recorder would come out. I just do not know what to do!! Why Sky did not include the record to disc option for my camcorder on their Sky+ box I do not know! I suppose what I am asking you all now is should I buy the Sony RDR HXD 890 or 995 now they are really cheap?

Do you edit your movies and create DVDs on a PC? I guess not from your question. That would be one route to take and then the means of replay wouldn't matter. A blu-ray player/recorder won't produce results that are better than a DVD player/recorder as the original video from your camera is only in standard definition.
