Ok, I have 2 x 2 metres of Odyssey 2 cable, so I have bi amped one speaker with it, and left the Silverscreen on the other speaker (bi amped too)......

Obviously this is not the best way to test, but at the moment it's the only choice I have. Sitting in front of each speaker at ear level in turn, you can easily hear the difference between each cable.

The Odyssey 2 seems clearer, with a more realistic vocal presentation. Details are more apparent too. My only slight concern is that the bass seemed a little less prominent with the Odyssey 2 cable. The cable is used, but maybe it will improve as it's used more?

Will have to find 2 more metres of cable to biamp the other speaker now, and then sit back and do a conclusive test.......

do you mean bi-wire? If so, I would just single wire with the Odyssey on both speakers.

No, I mean bi amped as suggested above..... one 2 metre length from amp to LF terminal, and the other connected to amp via surround speakers connections (thus bi amped) to the HF terminal of the speaker...

Will single amp both speakers in the morning (one 2m length to each speaker as well as placing the HF and LF links back into the speaker terminal at the back of each speaker) to get an idea of the sound this cable produces....

I have been doing some testing this morning....here is what i have found........

The Odyssey 2 compared with the silverscreen has:

1) Less 'muddled' sound...separation has improved greatly.

2) Clearer bass line, if not quite as bold. It has better definition, but the 'woolly' bass which dominanted before has been transformed into a clearer, more precise bassline.

3) Vocals are greatly improved, with a more realistic interpretation, rather than lifeless.

4) Clearer, 'sweeter' highs, with more detail from the music shining through.

The test was done with the Chord silverscreen bi amped, and the Odyssey 2 only single amped, so it was slightly unfair towards the Odyssey 2. Saying that, it is the clear winner, in my opinion......

cd's used in test are: Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Madonna (Ray of Light) and Bruce Springsteen (Greatest hits)

Now, do I buy more to bi amp it?

You would have been better off testing the two both wired the same. I have no idea about how much better biamping would be with your set up - what stereo amp do you have?

Gerrardasnails.......

I'm going to do that test tonight, so I compare both cables in a 'single amp' configuration....

I have had my silverscreen cables bi amped since I bought and connected them to my Denon AVR2310, which i use as a stereo amp (no dedicated one).

Will let you know my findings later......

Well, from what i read about your findings you are your spot on. I told about good seperation but the more prominent energy in the mid/high, therefore a controlled but slightly lack of bass... and it could be less "thin" for my liking. But that Supra Sword is just to much money.

Well, I have now compared the two using the 'single amp' configuration...........and there is no doubt about it, the Chord Odyssey 2 wins.

It's just more controlled and dynamic, with a much more realistic presentation, in my view. Saying that, it's not 'night and day', as it takes a few change overs to really start noticing the differences. I guess that might be because it takesa few minutes to change over the wires at the back of each speaker and at the back of the receiver.......

As for bi amping....I'm not sure there is that much difference in SQ between the Chord silverscreen single or bi amped....Might be the next test in the morning....

Not done the bi amp vs single amp test yet, but I have acquired 2 x 2 more metres of Chord Odyssey 2 cable off ebay.

£33.50 for 4 metres delivered to my doorstep, was too good to be true!!!!

Once it arrives and I terminate it, I'll let you all know if bi ampping does make a difference.....

Pistol Pete1 how are you terminating the cables ?

when i bought mine the store i got them from terminated them free of charge using original chord plugs and silver soldered them for a better connection. might be worth considering.

ok, last post on this thread.

I bi amped my Denon 2310 with Chord Odyssey 2 last night (all second hand, so burnt in nicely!!), and used some on the centre speaker too.

WOW, WOW, WOW.........what a difference the speaker cable made to the centre speaker.

Everything has opened up nicely.....clarity is superb, speech is crystal clear, and separation is spot on.......

Not only that, but the whole soundstage has completely opened up and the 5.1 package seems to surround me with sound so much better.

Even the rear speakers seem more apparent with freeview, for some reason??? (Maybe the sound levels from the front speakers are not as loud through this cable?)

In conclusion.......The Chord Odyssey 2 speaker cable is a fantastic buy........

BTW...Stig.....I have used banana plugs (double screw type) for most, except 2 lengths of the cable arrived with crimp style plugs, so left them on.
