Advice on headphones

I'm looking for a pair of headphones that would be suitable for TV, movies and games. I am looking to spend around £50, I'm not bothered about them being wireless, but would be nice.

Do you need to block out noise either way - ie either from your surroundings, or so that you don't annoy anybody else?

I need some headphones because I've just moved in to a new house and its mid terraced with thin walls. I generaly stay up late watchings films or playing xbox. So I wouldn't need to block out sound from my surroundings. I wouldn't want anything that had a lot of sound leakage, but a small amount wouldn't be a real problem.
