Hello

I have been asked to help someone pick up a new TV for a lounge of an old peoples home - 42 inch should do it.

I was worried about viewing angles. I know my old Tosh LCD WLT36 (?) has v poor viewing angles but my newer 46 inch Sony 46W4500 is much better.

Any suggestions?

Possible occasional blu ray or DVD but mainly SD freeview signal from an ariel is likely use.

If viewing angles are essential there is really no way around plasma in my opinion. The viewing angles of plasma sets are much superior to the viewing angles of LCD sets.

In the 42 inch size this boils down to Panasonic. There are various options, TX-P42X20, S20, G20 or V20, starting out with the cheap set and ending with the superior set. X20 is the only 720p set, the rest is 1080p sets.

I don't know what the budget is, but I would go for either G20 or V20.
