I've seen a couple of 3D films (Avatar, How to train a dragon, Clash of the Titans), and as a result am even more convinced that it is an entirely unnecessary development in terms of what it contributes to my own enjoyment of a film.
Why is it that most (ok, I shouldn't generalise based on the 3 films I've seen, but.......) 3D films are an absolute load of rubbish? For example, the trailers of upcoming films, save for Toy Story 3, I thought, where terrible (e.g. some film about guardian owls, Street Dance 3D, Shrek 4).
If these are the sorts of films that are going to be representative of the technology and the primary driver behind it, then I'm happy to count myself out. I'm probably going to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D and I can't imagine, from the 2D trailer that I've seen, that this will be any better.
Which leads me swiftly to the conclusion, of which I was already aware, that 3D tvs and BD players won't be something I shall be spending my money on any time soon.
