Got my dealer to install the Avantgarde Uno G2 horn speakers for a 3-day home demo. They are driven by Pathos Twin Tower Class A integrated amp. The source is my Esoteric X-03 SE.

They were just brought in today and I'm enjoying every minute of it. If you're looking for lifelike musicality and music realism, this is one to consider. I was listening to a jazz piece and I could actually hear the pianist letting go of the sustain pedal! Truly effortless - which means my brain doesn't have to work so hard to process the sound - which means I can just enjoy the music.

Heard a pair of those at the audio show I just attended. But they were a larger model. The sounded extremely detailed. Micro dynamics are superb. I'm not sure they would be the most entertaining long term though. They might be too revealing if that makes any sense.

I must say, I do like the look of them.

Though I too have my reservations about how they sound

The OP told us how they sound to him. (lifelike, musical realism, effortless etc)

How did they sound to you Rik? What are your reservations?

Horn speakers is one of the things I would love to own one day. I do not have much experience with them (only heard once or twice) but I thought they were very dynamic.

Yep, they cost $27k but the advantage is because they have a high sensitivity rating of 104dB, you can don't have to spend so much on the amp. You can get a great tube amp or Class A solid state that just gives out 10wpc and you'll have magic.

It is very revealing, but in an effortless way. So no problem if anyone is concerned about long term enjoyment. Also horn colouration is very minimal, if any at all. So far, I haven't detected any yet, as compared to my PMC FB1i's. On the contrary, I found Magico rather coloured!

Anyway, the Avantgardes really transports you right onto the performers' stage. Very intimate. I can live with them.

ESP2009:Hark! Do I hear the Horn of Gondor?

At 104db efficiency, one slip of the volume control and they will be the 'Horns of Gondef'

Mind you, they will probably make a much better sound than that puny object carried by Boromir in the 'LOTR' movie.

a 103in 4k2k plasma behind the curtain and roberts your fathers brother....

Looks stunning - I doubt their design will appeal en masse.

It's fantastic to have a system for a few days - - for me, the rest of my system let the speakers I was auditioning down.

LOL. That's funny. I'll try that one on my wife.

They come in several colours. I like the pearl.

Just sit your wife down in front of a pair of these driven by a SET amp and you'll have a convert for life.

But seriously, I think I could live with these. But I'll need to listen to a few others first before making any decision.
