160 GB iPod Classic - Harddrive Hanging Issue

My 160 GB iPod is about a year and a half old.

My music is stored as either AIFF or 320 kb MP3 files.

I find that the iPod's harddrive hangs quite often and the music stops playing for a second or two.

Is this a normal problem?

If yes, can it be rectified easily?

My classic does not pause at all and it is not an issue I have heard of. Have you tried the 5 Rs here

to see if the usual Apple recommended options work? If that does not work then the Apple Discussion forum has been very useful for me in the past. Ultimately Apple Stores, if you are near one have tech people there who you can book a session with to see if they can fix it. I have not tried that, but have heard good comments about it.

Firstly, make sure you have the latest firmware - check through iTunes.

Second, If it's happening frequenty, drain the battery totally and recharge. This got rid of my problem on my classic 120gb where it hanged totally (after thrashing it on my rDock).

Yup, check the firmware - iPod Touch had problems playing lossless until the last update...
