Looking for a 42" - 46" screen that will do for my kids (ahem) PS3. Was thinking more towards LCD, only as my kids will be playing their games on it when i`m working so the paranoia about Plasma screen burn is ringing through my brain. Also has to be good for DVD`s as it will be the centre for my Klegg M8 601 home cinema system. All replies appreciated.

Well, most 42-46in screens tend to be plasmas, with the exception of Sony's 40in Bravia screens. We've tested the latest 32in Sony Bravia (KDL-32D3000), which is a brilliant LCD for £1000, but we haven't seen the 40in model yet (funnily enough, there's a Sony Bravia press launch this evening, so we may get more details there).

However, screen burn isn't as big an issue as it used to be on plasmas, and our Best Buy budget 42in TV this year is the Panasonic TH-42PX70 plasma (£1200, but available for less if you shop around).

And if you're still worried about the plasma/LCD thing, take a look at Panasonic's two 37in screens, the £1000 Panasonic TH-37PX70 (plasma) and its identically-sized twin, the £1100 TH-37LZD70 (LCD).

You can pick up a Sony W3000 (40inch) with a free PS3 for around the £1400 mark, and that tv has been reviewed as probably the best out at the moment... Combine that with the brilliant upscaling abilities of the PS3 and you're all set!

Hello , I've found this Panasonic TH-42PX70 plasma for £700.00 ...... I take it this is a real find then ?

How is this plasma for watching footy ? (and I'm taking it that a plazma IS better than an lcd for footy?).

Can I ask where you saw that offer? I've only seen offers with that TV and a half price BDP-S300 player.

Have a look at the Samsung F86. It's around £1400 online. I have one and the picture is fantastic for films and gaming.
