    Why the rip-off?

The R&D cost shizzle is a fallacy.... These companies are in it for the long haul, R&D is paid for by a tiny percentage of the mark up on the millions of products they sell globally each year... Not by the extra 60% they slap on the first few thousand units... Unfortunately, pricing in any...

    Why the rip-off?

I know this topic has been raised before and I know that complaining about it on here isn't going to change anything but.... Why are the new 4k Blu Ray players so damned expensive? In terms of componentry, there isn't anything inside them that isn't already found in a standard player costing...

    Dual Sub Suggestions.....2

Thanks for the response. I'll hang fire on the dual subs I think. Having read up a little more, there doesn't seem to be a definitive agreement out there that it's a step up from a single sub.... As for the rest of the speakers, as I mentioned I'm already at 6.1 with a single surround back...

    Dual Sub Suggestions.....2

Hi My current sub has developed an annoying hum when it's idling so I've been thinking about replacing it. The Onkyo TX-NR609 it's plugged into has the ability to drive two "small, fast" subs and according to the experts this can result in better controlled bass. My problem is that "small"...

    Onkyo Comparison

Looking to upgrade my ageing Denon AVR-2105 AV Receiver. What's the better deal? £500 worth of TX-NR609 for £350 or £800 TX-NR709 for £550? It seemed like a no brainer, £250 saved on the 709 versus only £150 on the 609 but when I start looking at the tech specs I'm struggling to see what...

Wall mount Panasonic advice needed ASAP

Try working out how deep the threaded portion of the insert in the back of the TV is (use a paper-clip or similar - straighten it out then insert into the threaded hole and slide up the side wall of the hole - you should be able to feel the depth of the threaded insert) Any length of the bolt...

How much of a problem is reflections on a Plasma screen?

One of the problems is that in order to achieve greater contrast ratios, the screen needs to be as black as possible to begin with. This can only really be achieved by giving it a high gloss finish. Any kind of anti-reflective coating tends to make the screen appear grey (like LCD sets)...

    B&W Nautilus

I think it's disgusting that in the current troubled financial climate, anyone would consider paying that much money............ On a tub of wax!!!!...... 80 quid!?!? The speakers on the other hand look like a real bargain, although I still might wait for them to appear in the Clearance...

    Please Help which TV

I haven't compared any of the TV's mentioned, but with regard to going 720 as opposed to 1080, the general guidance from the experts seems to be that differences in the performance of various TV's has little to do with whether or not they or Full HD. The Pioneer Kuro TV's are a classic example...

Bye Bye CRT...... Hello Panny G15 !!!

Me too, but does anyone know if it's just selected content or "all of YouTube"? And if the latter, how will you enter text in the search bar, etc? I tend to get blinded by the Additional Features lists on kit like this and then end up not using half of them, so I'm hoping that this set is gonna...

Bye Bye CRT...... Hello Panny G15 !!!

OK, so I’ve finally decided to take the plunge and trade in my trusty CRT and go Hi Def. This is a big deal for me, not only because of the money involved, but also because in my humble opinion my Panasonic TX 37PD50 was until very recently, the finest TV ever created. Having stood in a few...

    Sony KDL46W5500 vs 5710?????

I went into the Sony Centre (Merry Hill) today to ask if they had a 40 or 46 W5500 I could look at. They said no but they did have a 40W5710.  I hadn't heard of the 5710 series, so looked it up on Sony's website when I got home...... and its not on there!!!! Bizarrely tho, you can order them...
