Looking to upgrade my ageing Denon AVR-2105 AV Receiver.

What's the better deal?

£500 worth of TX-NR609 for £350

or

£800 TX-NR709 for £550?

It seemed like a no brainer, £250 saved on the 709 versus only £150 on the 609 but when I start looking at the tech specs I'm struggling to see what the extra £200 would buy me.....

The extra wattage would be wasted in my living room (and overly sensitive neighbours) and the extra HDMI output would be redundant too.

Is there anything I'm missing or should I just get the 609 and use the £200 saved to get a reasonable BluRay Player and give the PS3 a rest?

The 7** model in the Onkyo range has always been a bit of an odd one - not greatly better than the one below it, and nowhere near as good as the next one up. I'd got for the 609 as its a very capable amplifier in its own right.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's still available in November when I get my next study grant!!
