I have my quad l-ites bi amped at the front L&R

this means my 875 won't drive the zone 2 speakers.

So - have to purchase an amp for my two speakers in zone 2

It's only for the kitchen, and I have two extra L-Ite speakers for it.

What type of amp should I be looking to connect the 875 to zone 2 that will be good for the Quad L-ite pair?

Suggestions of brand / model all welcome

I don't think you'd need anything too impressive, just a nice stereo power amp run from the pre-amp output of your receiver. This should do the duties very well, and leave plenty of space for pans and plates, etc: Click.

Edit: That amp is smaller in real life, than on screen! It's 10cm in width!

So a Power amp is the way to go? thank you.

Will the 875 feed all my sources to the power amp via pre-outs, or, will it only feed analogue sources?

currently, my sky HD, Apple TV, Sony 350 all feed via HDMI or Optical. CD and SL1210 are analogue feeds.

Nice idea, but I think it might be desirable to choose an amp with a separate volume control.

considering the speakers being used - what would be a sensible suggestion of a power amp then?

Read the manual carefully as to answer your second question - my Onkyo 605 only feeds analogue sources to Zone 2 (when splitting it into 5.1 and 2.0 operation).

I've been offered one of these for free: Technics SA EX-310 stereo / home cinema dolby pro-logic receiver

I've had a look for the specs and this is what i could find - I think these are its specs

Technics SA EX-310 stereo / home cinema dolby pro-logic receiver

two questions:

1) will i be able to connect it to the the Onkyo's pre outs for zone 2?

2) will it be ok for the Quads? the Ohm ratings look different - Quads are 6ohms

Juzzie - yeah, read the manual and the 875 is the same - only sends analogue signals to zone 2 & 3 :-(

The manual also calls them pre-outs.

So - would the technics be safe to connect to the 875 - I would imagine yes.

BUT - would it be safe to drive the Quads? if so - would the quality be ok?

I'll need like 20m of phono interconnect from 875 to zone 2
