An old friend of mine did the stage lighting when The Animals performed at the Palace Theatre, Southend.
After the show, he was asked by a woman for his name and address.

From then on, he received regular cheques - as a share in the royalty payments for 'House Of The Rising Sun'

Seems it was their way of showing appreciation - and it couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke (who sadly died a couple of weeks ago).
