Just got back. Second time I've seen them now, and although I preferred the first gig overall, they're gaining confidence and settling into their new found fame. I just hope it doesn't go to their heads.

Last night, Placebo at Colston Hall in Bristol. Very impressive. I really liked them back at the start and had their first few albums, but I seemed to forget about them.
I watched their iTunes Festival performance and liked it, they're as good now if not better than they ever have been.
The support band, THE MIRROR TRAP were pretty good, they have an album on spotify.

Still on a high after watching the sublime Robin Trower last night. Even at the ripe old age of 70 he can still show most of the rest a clean pair of heels.

I am counting down the days to the 11th April when we are going to see him at the Shepherds Bush Empire *smile* .

Went to see Vice Squad a few weeks ago, and tonight I went to see Marika Hackman.

I recommend checking out Marika Hackman, great voice, and quirky, interesting songs.

He was on fire. I love his style so much, it's so good to hear someone who doesn't feel the need to play at a million miles an hour all the time. His classic Daydream was a particular favourite.

... The Barnyard, Emporer's Palace, Jo'berg. Thursday 27th March. This guy has to be seen to be believed. brilliant.

Having opened for Bruce Springsteen last year, Dan is out headlining in South Africa. Then, on April 27th, he plays at the Borderline in London to launch his album Dear Silent thieves in the UK. The album was voted number 1 in the USA in Blues Rock Review, an online vote, beating Joe Bonamassa.

Robin Trower last night at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire .

He may be 70 years old but he still plays quitar better than almost anybody else of any age !

The most pleasant surprise of the evening for me was the support Joanne Shaw Taylor , in fact many of the people I spoke to came mainly to see her perform rather than Robin Trower which I can now fully understand !

Glad you enjoyed the gig Electro, Robin Trower is just so good live I agree about Joanne Shaw Taylor. She was an excellent support act. I bought her latest CD after the gig and had a bit of a chat with her. Top girl.

Meanwhile, last night another great night of rocking blues at Holmfirth's Picturedrome. This time it was the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band supported by Ben Poole. A great night was had by all.

Marc Almond at the Colston Hall on Thursday. A case of third time lucky, I've seen him 3 times in the past year. 1st time was doing The Tyburn Tree which I enjoyed but it was challenging, then as a guest with Jools Holland which I didn't enjoy.
A few omissions (Tears Run Rings etc) but he was brilliant.

Dan Patlansky's album launch was yesterday and I managed to get in to the sold out Borderline for the gig. Quite a few industry figures there and I spent a long time talking to Pete Feenstra of Getreadytorock.com internet station. Most people were seeing Dan for the first time and were blown away. Video of Voodoo Chile (Slight return) can be seen at

Went to see Simple Minds last night. They were ok, I'm not really sure why I went as they're not really my usual thing.
They did however do a cover of Riders on The Storm, which was pretty bad, a sort of pop karaoke version which was in no way a tribute to the original.

Went to see a band called The JB Conspiracy tonight. Really energetic rock/ska, with an awesome rhythm section. I'd recommend them highly to anyone who likes a high energy live band.

Went to see the wonderful Larry Miller at The Railway Pub in Bromley Cross on Friday. What a great night was had by all. A hardcore of about 100 folk in the audience, but each and everyone of us lapped up old Larry as usual. You can't help but warm to this guy, what a madcap personality, but such fun. With a blues rock genre firmly entrenched in the early 70's style of the great Rory Gallagher, he's not to everyone's taste but I love him.
