Thanks begs the question whether a standalone equaliser is needed such as the odyssey?

the analogue input on the z9 only has one input for both the sub and the centre. Won't this compromise on quality if there isn't a left and right?

No - all analogue inputs are single rca - 1 for each 5 /7 channels and 1 or 2 for subs

This thread has been about whether to abandon an old flagship AV amp (Yamaha Z9) in favour of modern equivalents that contain HD decoding via HDMI. The advice so far has been keep the amp and buy a Blu ray with HD on board, fed to the Z9 via analogue 7.1. I have been eying up the Oppo 105 to achieve this.

Has anyone had any experience of Outlaw Audio Model 975 7.1 AV Preamp - $549

I'm desperately trying to keep this thread alive until I have been able

to answer my questions - sorry - I hope it will benefit someone else at some point in my position.

At the moment I am seeking a DAC and HD decoder to add to my yamaha Z9. I have kinda settled on an oppo 105 which will achieve my aim.

however .... Has any one got any opinion on whether the following would served purpose better and produce a better sound for music and movies?
