Just checked it out. It's for a US import with a step-down transformer. So no good. And a high price for it as well.

Thanks anyway.

I'm in the market myself for a Z11. Very interested to hear where you got yours from for under £3K.

I know they're now discontinued and in the US they're selling very, very cheap now (like £1,500) - although I would only ever buy a UK sourced machine.

That makes 2 of us,I am thinking of upgrading my Z7 to a Z11 under 3 k would be great

Don't know why you think it is discontinued , news to me

Hi Lesmor,

there is an ex dem DSP Z11 at Musicraft's which has been advertised for 2 weeks now for £3300 if its of any interst to you.

hope this helps.

Not here to offer help on your 'minor' z11 probs, - but to hear your experience about the ax1.

Can't afford the Z11 (must be brilliant) but is the ax1 still worth it - couldn't afford it then but used ones are now in my kind of affordability. However, read some reviews that for music only, the ax1 is not upto scratch with a lower end music only amp in comparison? With your listening experience - would it be worth me getting my hands on a used ax-1. Waited 10 years!!

Will be used for both audio cd and movies. Will value your views. Thanks.

The Amazon seller may or may not be a genuine Yamaha stockist. If not, there will be no genuine warranty with the product. The DSPZ11 can be had for a little more - brand new, UK spec, 2 year warranty, and basic install from listed Yamaha agents.

i loved the AX1, a stunning amp. i would say, don't hesitate & just go for it. when it comes to the music point of view, i was very happy with it, i am not very technical so wont even try and go into the ins & outs of how it sounds with music, but 5 friends went out and bought the same system as me because they were so impressed with it, movies & music. and the mate i sold it onto hasn't stopped telling me how pleased he is with it ever since.

Coming from someone who has used it for a long time - thanks a lot!! I've admired the ax1 on shop windows and will now definately get one. Am looking up a few used ax1's that are floating around. The missus is happy as long as it's below £500.

The Z11, perhaps in another 10 years time!!!

i do have the sky signal sent straight through to my kuro and the picture is much better when the sky box is set to output @ 720p than 1080i, but that could just be my eyes/preference.... anyone knows for sure what would or should upscale the picture best, the pioneer 6090 or the z11?

You're not doing any any justice to the picture quality by setting your Sky box to 720p. All it's doing, is partly upscaling SD images (576i) to 720p which is then further upscaled to 1080 by your Kuro or your amp! Too many cooks spoil the broth
emotion-41.gif

Also, HD channels normally output at 1080i. Your Sky box is now downscaling them to 720p & then again upscaled to 1080i by the Kuro (or the amp)!

Just set your Sky box to "Auto" like others have suggested & your Yamaha to pass through.

Ok, i tired what you suggested, and it looked like my tv was doing no up scaling what so ever, added to that, it appeared to confuse my TV, making it display grey side masks (despite this feature being turned off in my tv) the sky tv guide looked very blurry, switched the upscaling on in my amp and it looks much better than leaving my tv to do the work, so either i have a problem with my tv set or the yamaha is doing a far better job of doing the upscaling!?
