YAMAHA RX-V667 setup with ONKYO NDS1 dock help!

Hi ive got music coming through amp via optical cable but dock has a music menu which shows up on screen . Optical connected to av4 but gets music throught speakers but no onscreen menu from the onkyo. Can i have my play list on the tv screen and operate via yamaha remote and whats best amp setting for music through dock? Cheers all DAZ

No sound from my yamaha RX-V667 amp from dock now. Don't know what ive changed! Do i need to use the R1 cable or is that just for onkyo amps? Dunno what ive done now HELP PLEASE!

It just needs a digital connection i.e. optical or digi-coax. Is the amp on the correct input? Is the input assigned correctly in the setup menu? What is displayed on the amp and what mode is the amp in?

Why did you start another thread? You could connect the dock via composite video and use the amp's video conversion to output to the TV via HDMI and hopefully see the Onkyo's menu on the TV. Is the Yamaha remote capable of learning other commands or operating other manufacturer's equipment via a code? The manual should confirm. I would always recommend a universal remote anyway to conrol all your equipment. I've always found most AV Receiver remotes to be cluttered and pretty naff. As for the amp setting, surely that is the one that sounds best to your ears! Direct/Stereo and perhaps multi-channel stereo are what I prefer on my Denon.

Optical cable in av4 on amp and ipod showing in av4 in the input menu on amp but no sound. Can Get a music type of menu on screen but blank and no icon flashing

Hi, i had sound ealier but cant figure out whats changed as no sound now. I want sound and onscreen menu from dock via optical cable is this possible. Also have a yellow video cable does this go in monitor out on amp into back of dock then for menu on screen? Sorry for being a bit useless with this?

No, the composite video will go from the dock's output to a composite video input.

Hi, still having probs with connecting my onkyo NDS1 onkyo dock to my yamaha RX-V667 amp. Got the sound coming through now via optical cable from dock to AV4 on yamaha amp. But the problem now is the onscreen playlist menu from the onkyo is on my screen but in a diffent amp setting .Basically i need the sound and the menu on screen at the same time and its not happening. Makes me sound a bit stupid but if someone could send link of back of amp showing what hole i should have the yellow video cable in or have i got settings wrong on amp input. Step by step instructions would be very helpful. Sorry but its all new to me just brought whole system last wk so are a total novice! Thanks guys!

The yellow cable should be in the yellow socket directly above the AV4 input that the optical is plugged into.

Ive got the yellow cable in this way but no onscreen graphics playlists and sound at same time confused!

Iv'e now had a total change of mind. Taken onkyo NDS1 back to Richer sounds as i couldn't get the onscreen menus, not really going to plug pc into it for streaming and its not iphone certified so iv'e now brought the yamahaYDS12 and its great. Can use yamaha amp remote for playlists on tv screen ffw/rewind/pause etc. Its very small and has ipod/phone adaptors so is much more secure docked than the onkyo and to be honest i can't with my ears tell any difference in sound quality at all! Pleased with my change of mind and now i can use far more functions through my RX-V667 amp! GREAT!
