Yamaha RX-V1700 or Onkyo TXSR605

Hi all,

Wondered whether anyone could offer advice/suggestions.

I auditioned some Home Cinema products at the weekend & opted for the Pana TH-42PX70 along with the KEF 3005SE (replace my old original eggs). I then pondered on the £250 or £400 Onkyo receivers when I was offered the Yamaha for the same price as the 605 model. So, the questions I have are:
[*] does the Yamaha 2006 award winner out perform the 2007 (cheaper) award winner (rather general question I know), [*] do either have on-screen menu options, and [*] are these just overkill. I also have the Toshiba HD-EP35 & QED wiring (silver cables & P1 HDMI cables).
Any suggestions/advice welcome!

Don't suppose anyone has any suggestions? I'm going back on Thursday & need to decide whether to go for the Onkyo 605 or Yamaha V1700.

Good as it is, the Yamaha can't handle the new high-definition audio formats like the Onkyo, and as you have a Toshiba HD DVD player, I'd go for the Onkyo.
