I´ve read that the new RX-A2020 doesn't eq subs like the older RX-A2010 (2010 eq subs down to 30Hz where new 2020 goes only just to 62Hz). Is this true and if so it´s true too for the RX-A3020?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware that the 2010 does EQ sub frequencies, and I've not seen anything in PDF's or the manual to suggest that it does. Most AV receivers don't. The only ones that do that I'm aware of are the XT32 equipped Onkyos.

When using the YPAO my 2010 clearly shows on screen that eq the sub down to 31,3Hz but I´ve seen in this review about the RX-A2020

http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/receivers/yamaha-rx-a2020-aventage/menu-system-ypao

http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/receivers/yamaha-rx-a2020-aventage/menu-system-ypaothat YPAO only eq the subs down only to 62,5Hz in that model. I wonder if the 3020 does the same as the 2020 and doesn´t eq the subs.

(as additional info the 3010 eq subs just like the 2010 down to 31.3Hz)

Or is the EQ just showing the measured room response down to 30Hz? It doesn't necessarily mean it is actually applying EQ to the sub frequencies. Only a phone call to Yamaha will confirm this - I'll double check when I'm back at work tomorrow.

In my 2010 the YPAO shows that apply -2.5db with a Q of 0.500 at 31.3Hz so I assume it´s applying eq to the sub frecuencies.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your phone call to Yamaha. Thanks a lot!!

Hello MMW,

I'm not sure where you read that, but I've just flicked through the manual for my RX-A2010. What do you mean by equalising subs, at certain frequencies? What certainly can be done is to manually adjust the frequencies (after YMPAO calibration with the supplied microphone) at which satellite speakers that are designated as "Small" cross over to the subwoofer. You can also manually adjust the levels of all speakers, including the subwoofer, if you feel that the speaker levels that the YMPAO calibration are too loud or too quiet.

(I started to write the above in response to your intial post, but got distracted and when I eventually posted it I saw that there have since been other postings back and forth.)
