Yamaha AX763 and AX863SE

Hi all

I appreciate that the 863 has slightly better sound than the 763 however as the 763 is now nearly half the price (£279 - Richersounds) and I'm sure it's not twice as good!

Am I right in thinking that the only other major benefits of the 863 (save sound) are the one extra HDMI and video upscaling?

Or am I missing something.

I'd be rigged up to a PS3 (which upscales DVDs) - And as for freeview/sky I wouldn't have thought upscaling would improve the picture that much. - You can't polish a turd!

Would rig up to some Mordaunt Short Alumni speakers.

Also does the > HDMI digital video up-conversion on the 763 > simply mean that analogue video connected to the unit will be output through the HDMI port

Answer.....In your case i'd buy the 763 for that price (bargin), however when upscaling is concerned, you can get better scalers and notice the difference - still you should get the 763.
