I'm considering buying the new Project 1xpression Carbon which is an upgrade to the 6 year old 1xpression III. However looking at both tt's specs the wow & flutter seems worse on the new model. +-0.1% on III and 0.14% on Carbon. Seems strange that the new models specs are worse than the old model. What are your thoughts on this?

Also the old model can use a speedbox which should improve the wow & flutter specs, but won't work with the new model.

In retrospect my 25 year old Beogram TX2 has impressive wow & flutter specs of 0,06%

Shouldn't a new tt be able to better these specs?

Quoted wow and flutter specs can generally be taken with a pinch of salt. Who has the equipment to contradict manufacturers? Not many that's who.

Performance increase over time is normally an acepted fact but not always.

The power supply to items like turntables can make a great deal of difference to the measurements themselves, and if you have a good and stable mains supply then lucky you.

Do not get too wound up about figures, just listen to the output.
