Would a HiFi setup sound better than a home cinema setup for music?

If I use the Pioneer Sc-lx81 amp for stereo with these speakers will I need to use the mic for setup or will plug and play do? Thanks.

Do you also plan on integrating those speakers into the surround set up?

If so, then ideally you need to run the MCACC to calibrate it all.

Once set up you can simply put it in stereo mode (this still keeps the MCACC settings) or Pure Direct (disables the MCACC settings) and see which way you think sound better.

Cool, thanks. I think I am going to cancel the speakers and just use my current set up, and experiment for stereo and Pure Direct mode on my AV set up. That way I have a very expensive amp and subwoofer combined with high class speakers too. I think it will sound inferior to my current set up otherwise. Cheers.

And use my dad’s floorstanders instead.

Stereo mode sounds way better than Pure Direct. 👍

If I don’t integrate it into my av set up, call you still do the mic set up for just 2 speakers and av receiver? Thanks

I've given this some thought for myself. And this is my solution:

For TV and movie I will get a Sonos Arc Ultra, or Samsung unit without seperate surrounds. The bar stays in front of my TV, and suddenly I am freed up for my hifi system. I don' t need to worry about an amp not having HDMI, and I reasonably get the best of both worlds. No compromise for movies or music. And still no proliferation of boxes.

I generally hate AV amps. And I don't want to faff around with setup and room correction etc.

I just sold my Pioneer Sc-lx81 amp, Arcam R-Blink, Logitech Bluetooth device, Panasonic UB820 4K Blu-ray player and speaker cable I bought, to give me some more money. Returned the Cambridge Audio stereo receiver and cancelled the speakers. I am happy with what I got and won’t be wasting money on a side project anymore. 👍

I am happy with stereo performance on my home cinema speakers and sub too.

I decided to get equal quality to my home cinema I would’ve have to spend the same amount on HiFi speakers and amp as I had with my home cinema system. So I didn’t have the money to do that, or want to knowing I spent that much on my home cinema system and having two big costing setups.

So my home cinema system is enough for me and to use it as a HiFi setup too with good quality sources is all I needed to be happy.

Without reading all the posts in this Thread so sorry if i am going over old ground .
HIFI separates will sound better then a AV amplifier any day of the week and depends on how much your willing to spend as anything in life you get what you pay for .
There have been a couple of Arcam AVs in the past that sounded really good with music AV8 ,P7 Power amp and a all in one Arcam AV that went into class A but can not think of the model number .

It would be cheaper to buy a 2 channel stereo Amplifier , Speakers , and what ever source you choice but depending on the size of your room what kind of speakers that would work well in your room i.e. bookshelf or floor standing speakers if you went this way .

And then you have to think about if your using those speakers with your home cinema if so you have to match the L+R with the centre speaker

If your more into films and setup for AV already personally buy a AV that has a track record of being good with both film and music its the cheapest option in the long run if Home cinema is your passion .

Because it starts getting expensive to have the latest and greatest of both worlds if you buy a dedicated HIFI and a Home cinema and keeping up with AV technology .

And you can spend a fortune on HIFI as well depends how serious you want to go .

I just bought a new amp this year in the Pioneer VSA-LX805 which is a real beast of an amp for my home cinema system/hifi setup.

The Arcam AVR31 is a very good amp my next door neighbour has a previous generation of that model and I have demoed it round his house, and have considered and bought previous generations but only to cancel after I got stuck setting up Dirac Live by myself. They were bought for around half the RRP when a new amp was being released.

I am a Pioneer avid fan when it comes to amps and they drive my speakers really well.

I have given up on the idea of buying new but probably would;ve been an integrated amp 2 channels stereo and floorstanding speakers. After much research and listening to people on here it became clear I would’ve to spend as much as I did on my home cinema system again with a HiFi setup, and I didn’t want to do that, and would;ve been an overkill for my bedroom.

I got the message when he posted his message i had posted mine but looked around to see what was best for music and films and the Arcam came out the best but time i found the info out he posted he was not interested now so i didn't want to waste my time so posted it anyway just in case someone else was interested .
