its the same old story , sony clouding , backlight bleed , even on the new 5500 ( according to a post here earlier ) , i dont understand why more people dont go for samsung , their latest 40 inch set le40b650t2 is getting brillliant reviews , blacks as good as a kuro ( according to reviews ) and its not even an led set , and correct me if im wrong but i havnt heard of any problems with samsung sets ... maybe the balance of power ( quality ) is shifting ??

Can you tell me where you saw the review for that one? I also prefer samsung. just hope those new models have mpeg4 tuner. Usually sony's sound is better.

Seems like a good improvement over the 656, but It still doesn't have mpeg4 digital tuner :(in fact samsung's site is not clear about the type of tuner used in their tv's. that could be the only reaon i go for the sony's.

To me its always a struggle between sony and samsung...major issue is that here in portugal , by 2012 , we are suposed to have terrestrial digital tv. I guess the norm will be mepg4 (if they don't change their mind), so i must get something that is abble to cope with that. samsung's are cheaper but the only let down so far is black is blue, and sound used to be bad (though it seems to be better in this new model) and no mp4 tuner. That's why I guess many people go for sony's.

i live in ireland so an mpeg4 tuner would benefit me too , although considering i only watch rte for news and current affairs i dont mind waiting a couple of years to get a tv with one ( might be something else to watch on it by then ) the sony 40w4000 has an mpeg4 , going cheap now if you dont mind a lack of 100 hrtz , £670 online i think ... havnt heard as much about backlight bleed on them ... may be there though ....

Just my 2 cents......have a 40w4000 since early january and so far have no clouding issues..Note that this set for aussie market is made in Malayasia and not Spain.
