I would imagine the burn in on a solid oak rack would take 500 years or more....
 
Not if you doused it in petrol and set light to it. I'd give it an hour but think of the pleasant glow.

You do realise this thread will now degenerate into a discussion (for want of a better word) about the relative merits of oak versus cherry, silver birch and the propellant used...
