Hi guys,

I have got a system which is hidden away in a cupboard, it comprises of a Sky+ HD Box, Denon AVR-2310 and a Panasonic BD50. I have tried using a Blue Delta Hideaway unit to split the IR signal, but to no avail.

Now, I have decided to go for a remote control that can control these units whilst hidden away. Can anybody recommend 1 from personal experience? I'm not looking to break the bank with this, but I am willing to shell out a few £s.

Thanks in advance

I have a logitech harmony 895 with the RF adaptor, it is a breeeze to set up and if your like me and change your kit alot updating is so simple.

You may still be able to grab one on Ebay, as I think it has now been replaced with 900, but either way you can't go wrong, highly recommended.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look. Do you find it work well through cupboards?

Yes, perfectly. We have a 18 month old daughter who likes to push buttons, and my wife has taught her to shut the AV cabinet doors if they are ever left open.

The RF receiver mounts within the cabinet and you get some remote eyes, which plug into the receiver and the other end fits over the IR eye on the piece of equipment.

It works from any where in the house.

Sorry, one more question.

How many IR emitters does it come with/support?

Another Harmony recommendation here. As well as the 895/890, the 900, 1000 and 1100 have RF capability. The blasters work perfectly - with minimal delay in receiving the RF commands.

I got the RF extender for my 1000, and that came with 4 independent dual IR blasters - so 8 in total. However my 900 came with a different, newer RF extender that only has 2 larger IR blasters - even though Logitech's website claims it comes with 4. That's an error on their part.

Luckily I only need to use one blaster ! I believe that the RF Extender for the 900 is unique, and the other RF extender that you can buy separately isn't compatible with the 900 as it uses a different RF frequency.

Regardless - contrary to what some peeps have posted on the net about problems with limited RF range, in my system it does work flawlessly, and that's testing it at 40ft.

I've just got a 900 and would highly recommend it. It replaced an older, monochrome, harmony and the combination of touchscreen and physical buttons on the 900 is near perfect.

You can replace the blasters with 'precision IR emitters' that Logitech sell as an extra - the pack gives you 2 cables, each with 4 stick on emitters that you attach to your kit.

After upgrades and a lack of clarity in Logitech's website i have a pack of the precision emitters spare if anyone is interested.

Also have a Keene IR distribution kit (recever, distribution amp and emitters) available if anyone wants one.

I've got the Logitech Harmony One & Keene IR Distribution Amp Kit. Works like a treat
