which PVR/freesate recorder works well with a panny PX80?

Having believed the rave reviews about the panny th-37px80 I agree that the inbuilt freeview tuner is excellent, but the picture from my current DVD recorder is not so great. A friend of mine has Sky plus and also says that his picutre on his panasonic is not as good watching from Sky + as it is on live TV.

Can anyone advise which PVR would give a picture comparable to that of watching live TV through the sets own onboard tuner? Or whether the Humax freesat recorder would do the job nicely?

thanks!

Well, I've had the Humax 9200T PVR for a couple of years and I've found it to be an excellent product in every way. However, this is a freeview (standard definition) device.

I've just got the FreeSat version this afternoon, although the dish doesn't get installed until tomorrow. It's a five star product according to the mag. Can't speak for the picture quality just yet but let's say my expectations are high.

Oh, during the review of the Foxsat HDR the mag did single out the high quality of the tuners as a point of note. "The best we've seen so far" I think they said.

My rather old Panasonic DVD recorder always seemed to give a good picture on a 21" sony, but doesn't look so great on a 37" panny! what size screen have you been using the old humax 9200 on is that on a 37px80? will also be interested to hear how the freesat version compares once you're connected!
