Ok I seem to have two links to the same pictures, the pictures themselves aren't great and I've only had the Xperia Z for two days. The camera doesn't seem that great in low light, but I can fiddle with that. When I do I'll take some better ones. Thanks Gel and The_Lhc for your help, never hosted pictures before or linked anything much so thanks for not patronising me because I didn't have a clue to be honest!

It can get a bit confusing, so if you get stuck just let us know. You have to click on the picture sizes too in Flickr, and select like the 520 one, or else it can come out blurred.

Thanks mate. So are you thinking of buying the VT? 0r did you just want to see if it was any good? I was thinking about a demo of the ZT60, just to see if it is as good as some are saying, but I'm used to the 65 now and I don't know if I would want to downsize...My VT makes my 500a look tiny

No, I went to demo the new ones but they are getting them in about a weeks time, I am getting a call when they are in. Really liked the VT50 though and it didn't look that big - which surprised me. Looking forward to see the new ones now.

+1000 You also get the same smart features (you tube etc) on your TV and your bluray player. It's real annoying that we have to pay for these features several times over, when many of us don't even want them to start with.

Don't buy it then!

Yes, but as the other posters have been suggesting, the best *quality* players and screens come with smart features as standard.
I'd rather the money was either taken off the price of the product, or went into further increasing the quality.
It's fine if you like the features, but it'll be nice to have alternatives for the many of us who do not.
Panasonics latest plasma is a prime example. ..if there was a discounted version with the same sceen and no smart features (like the screen pen) selling at a lower price, I'm sure many of us would prefer it.

I see what you are saying but for example when it comes to Panasonic TVs I really do think you are just paying extra for a better quality screen, the features don't cost that much. If they did the price would go up each year, when most of the time it goes down.

Hi all,

Thanks for your comments and the welcome - I appreciate it!

Short answer looks like "no" though

Anybody got a good reason why I shouldn't just pop down to the shops for a Sony KDL-55HX853 then? (other than maybe waiting a month or so to see if the price drops as the new range comes in)

Have you considered a projector and a pull-down screen?

More reliable than a TV? Probably.

Excellent pic? Yes.

Bells and whistles? No.

From £800 up to £3,000 and beyond - clcikety

Hi Mr Replicant (trying not to be overly familiar, as a newbie...)

To be honest, I do quite fancy a projector and screen and have considered it, but the layout of the room and other practicalities mean it's a bit of a non-starter unfortunately.

I think I'll have a look at the 2013 reviews tomorrow and see what the craic is.

For me the Philips tv's have the best picture quality , I have been to a few WHFI sound and vision shows and always prefered the Philips screens for vibrant great detail over the othe competition . Ive had a panasonic plasma (old school 42pz70b) and couldnt live with it . Sorry but Panasonic tv's may have good blacks but are to dull for my personal preference,
