I am thinking of jumping into the world of IPOD fi, I currently have a theta dac which could not be sold as one of the transformers just stopped working (happened during transit somehow), after a lot of grief with ebay & receiving the dac back, I have fixed the issue for a mere £60. So now I have my dac again, I am looking of getting either the arcam IRdock or the Onkyo- which one would be best? what are the pros and cons of either & which will sound the best in my system? thanks for reading 🙂

Since you have a DAC the Onkyo no question.

As far as I'm concerned, unless you have an older (3 years back) iPod 'classic', iPod thru analog just ain't hifi - having said that the rDock is an excellent device.

I do love the look of the Onkyo & having the DAC already means it would be a great choice!! Hmmmmmm...so far the Onkyo is winning & I can get it for just over £100.

Do it. AFAICR, the i(r)Dock doesn't have a digital out - only the Onk and the Wadia do - so they're the only choices (short of getting a NaimUniti or suchlike) that you can use the DAC with.

Onkyo has come up trumps 🙂 15 days till pay day & I will get one...can't wait now!!!...well, I am gonna have to.....15 days!!!! AFAICR? (as far as I can remember...am I right) JWTKWIM 🙂
