When I return the ak70 on Monday, they may convince me to try the Pioneer, I may take them up on it, knowing my love of tunes!!!! Anyway I was being serious about the sound of my old HTC, it is seriously good for me. We all know about snake oil on this site, don't we.

I must admit so am I and know I have lost some of the upper registers however I feel I still have enough left to know what sounds good to me..... and not enough to hear what the wife is yelling at me occasionally... ;-)

jonboywalton75 said:The Pioneer is a keeper!!!! I prefer the whole package compared to the Ak70. The screen makes searching for music much easier. Obviously it's heavier and bulkier, that doesn't bother me at all. For me the sound quality doesn't suffer in comparison to the Ak70, my ears are not trained to hear all the intricacies, like many on this forum, but for me the detail is amazing for the type of music I like. Admittedly though if you like heavier rock than I do, maybe the base may not be to your liking. The WiFi works well, however, using Bluetooth you need to have the player in reasonably close proximity to your device. Battery life is better than one expected, from the reviews I'd read previously. It's very pleasing with all my headphones, on ear and in. The 2 sd card slots also give much more storage than the ak70. Overall very pleased with my purchase. Just bought a 200 gb card to go with it. Also I can listen to all my prog albums in HD, and loud without driving the missus to distraction. All in all, to my ageing ears:- music heaven.

Excellent news. Enjoy.
Bass output for heavy rock etc can be adjusted using the equaliser like most DMPs I guess.

Thanks for the report back JBW75 - enjoy! - btw nothing wrong with your ears (or hearing) - we all hear in the same way and are capable of hearing those finer nuances which we enjoy so much (just a few KHz at the top end maybe!)
And Al ears - awaiting your report on the Fiio x5 3rd gen as and when it suits of course
cheers tonky
