In the 20 years or so that I've been dabbling in hifi, I've always bought British amps and speakers, together with Japanese CD players. A big reason is styling - I prefer the relatively low-key UK appearance (as compared say, to the US designs which tend to be bigger and arguably flashier).

However, I have admired from afar the designs by many European brands - Denmark's Densen and B&O for example, Germany's Elac and Canton speakers and of course Italy's Sonus Faber.

Got mixed views on this one have a yamaha amp for main system with MA speakers and my second system is a pioneer with wharfdale speakers. So my preference seems to be a mix of japenese and UK.
