Not having an earlier copy to compare it to, my opinion might not count for much, so all I can say is that there is absolutely no surface noise on my copy & to my ears it has been very well mastered. It has a fairly exciting presentation, but then I did follow the instruction on the back of the sleeve: "To be played at maximum volume" I really like it.

The DVD, for me, is a bit of a gimmick. It's not a DVD A, it's a normal video DVD with a static picture. As my computer took a dislike to it & refused to play beyond the first 10 seconds I had to play it through a normal DVD player & the telly (no home cinema set-up at the moment) so I wasn't getting anything like the desired/intended effect. Given a decent 5.1 system I reckon it would be pretty impressive.

Worth £20? Oh yes, without a doubt, which makes the fact I only paid £14.04 for it all the sweeter!

Listening to The Chills album Soft Bomb.

A minor classic from the early 90's. Always thought they'd be as big as their fellow countrymen, Crowded House. Their songs aren't a million miles away from those of Finn and co. I don't dislike Crowded House (my wife has all their LPs and the various Finn brothers solo and joint albums), but there's so much more going on in Martin Phillips' songs.

If you only ever listen to one (or three!) songs by The Chills, try Heavenly Pop Hit, So Long or Male Monster From The Id. Subtle genius. Fantastic pop songs.

My copy (also £14 from amazon) is waiting at home to be unwrapped and played. Really pleased to see that the DVD/multichannel mix is included - could be best value vinyl purchase this year.

Edit: where's my pic gone, Gremlin in the system. I will try again.

Still ain't worked. I give up, will try tomorrow if it ever comes.

Sod it who needs pics anyway 3rd attempt.

Seeing as it is topical on another thread I played my 1973 original copy of Dark Side Of The Moon and it was superb.

Ther is no dark side of the moon, matter of fact it's all dark just like here and it's only half seven.

Alexis Korner - Bootleg Him! A compilation which includes many of the leading blues players in Britain in the 60s and early 70s . I haven't played it for many years which is an oversight as there is lots of great music on it .

Just got the new Codeine vinyl box set on the Sub Pop imprint Numero Uno. Amazing quality. Played the White Birch album and it sounds superb. Heavyweight vinyl and all three albums come with bonus tracks and are housed in really thick gatefold card sleeves with a cd of each album included. For fans of Low, Mogwai, etc.

So how does Motorhead sound the morning after the bottle of Merlot ? I have three out of the five of your selection , so good choices .

This may or may not have worked..! If it has it is Is This It by the Strokes, I cant think of a better strokes album in the last few years.

I am Paul, first post, hope it works.. I thought I would do an intro to myself here as this is the thread I look at mostly.

I have an aging Pro-Ject debut II which gets worked hard!

Will get a few more purchases up here.

The recording of this album is good, but being a music on vinyl album, means that the packaging is a bit mean (I like nothing better than a sing along to the lyric sheet or just staring at a decent gatefold album cover:dance:
