Mark Knopfler's "Privateering" from last year. I wasn't a huge Dire Straits fan but this is a really enjoyable listen, and excellent quality sound too.

And he's peeling off those dollar bills
Slapping them down
One hundred, two hundred
And I can see those fighter planes.

Awayday - Villagers

Brand new, arrived in the post this morning.

How is it?

Very good. Quite similar to Becoming A Jackal. My wife and brother were listening with me and it was instantly liked by all of us. I think it'll be a grower too. There are few extra tracks on the free with vinyl mp3 download which I haven't listened to yet.

This is such a great album, I've listened to it a few times today as I compare different Dynavector cartridges, fiddly work, but so far no broken needles 🙂

It's still Bend Beyond by Woods for me. A truly great album. West-coast with a scratchy psych-pop twist.

Anything like Olivia Tremor Control Charlie?

"Midnight Cowboy" original soundtrack - simply brilliant and such airy space in the recording. Makes you walk with a limp ;-)

Then Dawes " North Hills" for some 45rpm West Coast style.

Enjoying Vinyl Sunday with these as mentioned on 'Praise & Shame'

New Order - Lost Siren

New Order - Technique

Alabama Shakes - Boys & Girls

King Crimson - In The Court of The crimson King

Block Party - Four

Bobby Womack - Bravest Man In The Universe

and now these

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

Dexys - One Day I'm Going to Soar

David Bowie - Ziggy

I loved OTC, and for me Woods are another band to cherish. For every note of quaintness, there's a balancing drop of acid to keep the thing from becoming too sickly sweet.

There's a touch more dissonance to Bend Beyond. And I love it.

I had a whole day on Sunday listening to vinyl, it was awesome, I really got into Bowie again, so after a quick Amazon search I realised that I've never listened to 'Heathen', shocking I know, so I ordered that and the 40th anniversary edition of 'Space Oddity' both on vinyl, in preparation for his new album, so going to listen to them tonight.

I wish Bowie would do a similar vinyl box set to what the Beatles have just done, that would be amazing.

Billie Holiday[/b] - Lady in Satin.

This is the 1st time I've actually sat down and listened to any Billie Holiday, what an amazing voice, I will definitely be adding more to my vinyl collection.

Dusk At Cubist Castle is one of my all time favourite albums, just brilliant.

I've only just found out about the death of Bill Doss, very sad, and left me asking the question, Why? Why? Why not James Blunt or Robbie Williams?

I shall seek out Bend Beyond though.
