You just had to ask didn't you?!

(Sorry - I know nothing that is likely to help.)

But if you want to try a cheap alternative that I have found virtually the same as the Odyssey, you can always give the Van Damme cable that Alien Rik is always advocating a try - it's surprisingly good. On my system I was detecting little difference between it, the Odyssey 2 and QED Revelation. I really couldn't decide which I preferred. I'm holding on to all three for now.

Seems you have a mismatch between speakers and amp. (At least for your tastes anyway.)

Try different speakers or a different amp. From what you say, something is not warm enough for you...

"Personally, I prefer the vocals to ebb slightly and the midrange to have a tad more warmth."

Looking at the WHF review of the Pulse they seem to concur...
This low-end leanness tends to shine even more light on the midrange, and the Leema's treatment of vocalists can quite easily shift from eloquent and expressive to right-in-yer-face." Maybe you need an Arcam amp or something like a Yamaha A-S1000 to smooth out the edges a bit. I don't think wire is going to fix things.

I agree cables isn't the final solution. The amp won't change, and the speakers I want I can't afford at present. Purchased the RS6s on the basis of price and personal knowledge. In the main love the sound, just seeing whether I can eek out a little more in the mids.

An occasional 'eek' in the mids seems consistent with the Pulse review findings

Your Chord Chrysalis cable might be worth changing.

I used Chrysalis and Crimson (RCA - DIN) cables between an old Denon tuner and my Naim.

I ended up preferring the Chrysalis because the Crimson sounded 'warmer' and a little too bass heavy for the Denon tuner. (Chord Chrysalis was once 'standard issue' for Naim before they started making their own cables. Chrysalis was known to attenuate extreme bass and treble a little.)

Anyway, Crimson might suit you for the same reason it didn't suit me. Cheap enough to give it a try.

Nicer colour too.

Quite possibly...

Since I've had the Pulse I've actually heard the music. The last year of the A65 I was constantly analysing the music rather than listening....

I complained about the Arcam lacked in terms of bottom end fluidity (should really re phrase those words), and now I'm questioning the midrange. Guess there's no such thing as a perfect sound.
