Maximum comfortable listening level for me is around mid-70s dB, but often I enjoy listening lower than that. One of the signs of quality hi-fi, for me, is that it can sound engaging at lower volume levels.

The Ultra's room correction works whatever power amplification you run it through.
Really? You sure? The specification don't mention any room correction function in this streamer, that always seems to be a function of the amplifier.
also surely you dont run power amplification through it but the streamer outputs to amplifier, or am I missing something here?

Yes, the Ultra has room correction, as you will see in the manual: https://www.wiimhome.com/langPdf/en/WiiM Ultra UM.pdf

Everything you plug into the Ultra runs through its digital processing, including the phono input. If you have RoomFit switched on, it modifies everything the Ultra outputs to your amplifier. In the case of a Vibelink, some people run the Vibelink with the control at maximum and control the volume from the Ultra, whilst others fix the output level of the Ultra and use the volume control on the Vibelink. The advantage of the former approach is remote control, which the Vibelink itself doesn't offer.
