Just bought an iPhone 14 refurbished one in excellent condition for £332, so what I sold my iPhone 16e for I now have an iPhone 14. 🙂

For what it's worth: if you're in the Apple ecosystem, stay there. The hardware is generally very good, and things are made to work together: phone, tablet, computer, tv, peripherals, ...

My personal opinion is that Android will give you better performance for your money, and it's a much more open software environment for those who want to explore variations on apps from different sources.

Security? I believe the user plays a bigger role here than the device...

OnePlus mobiles are my favourite, their software isn't typically bloated like other Android phones and depending on your budget, their mid range and top models have some excellent photography lens.
Also recommend Oppo phones which essentially are the same company.
Worth investigating.
