lots on CEX used with warrantyLooking at phone options after selling my iPhone 16e and looking at a different brand this time.
I don’t mind, but I suppose a Smart phone, one had caught my eye the Samsung A17 for £139?Do you want a Smart phone on Dumb phone ?
I like the look of it:You can buy a Motorola G35 for under £100. Motorola have always been good, reliable, low cost phones.
I still think Apple are the most secure and private also if you have other Apple products they will Gel Mr Gel 😇I like the look of it:
Thanks! How safe are you on the internet?
Not really. Nokia phones over 10 years ago ran on Windows, but Microsoft exited the mobile OS market ages ago. Nokia got buried since then, and resurfaced under different manufacturer. The current Nokia phones are all Android.I always liked Nokia but they run on Windows so maybe not .
I recall having a old Nokia on Windows it was a Awful platform. Not really. Nokia phones over 10 years ago ran on Windows, but Microsoft exited the mobile OS market ages ago. Nokia got buried since then, and resurfaced under different manufacturer. The current Nokia phones are all Android.
Presumably, the same as other Android phones but, for best security, I agree with @Shrek.Thanks! How safe are you on the internet?
I am currently using my dad’s old iPhone SE and it just downloaded the latest software which is really good but it did take a long time and the battery life isn’t very good but worth considering keeping it?I still think Apple are the most secure and private also if you have other Apple products they will Gel Mr Gel 😇
Put it in low power mode in the battery settings you be shocked how much longer it lasts don't charge over 80%.I am currently using my dad’s old iPhone SE and it just downloaded the latest software which is really good but it did take a long time and the battery life isn’t very good but worth considering keeping it?
I'd probably keep it and investigate the cost getting a battery replacement, assuming you are otherwise happy with the phone. (Also assuming it is the 2022 version.)he battery life isn’t very good but worth considering keeping it?
I had the Lumia 920. I actually liked the Windows interface, but restarting the phone took a long time, and it became very buggy. Had to get rid of it.I recall having a old Nokia on Windows it was a Awful platform.
If security is really important for you, Shrek is right, go with Apple. I bought my iPhone 12 in March 2021 and, am expecting to replace it in early 2028 or 2029, before security updates run out. So far, it has not missed a beat and battery condition is still very good.Motorola tend to be a bit slow with updates compared to Google and Samsung . G35 support ends in 2027.
The Samsung A17 is supported until 2031
You could look at the Pixel 9a which is a bit more expensive but supported till 2032, better specs and better cameras and very rapid updates.
The Samsung A26 is similar but probably slightly better than the A17. Support till 2031
In terms of "safety", Samsung and Pixel phones both have better security than the G35 being "enterprise ready". The G35 uses a less secure chipset and weaker security software (and worse update regime).
In terms of preference, I'd rank:
You can go onto sites such as gsmarena and compare phone specs. Plenty of review sites are available.
- Pixel 9a
- A26
- A17
- G35
Which have been suggested.OP did say he wanted a different brand.
So I have gone back to my iPhone SE because I don’t know how to use the Samsung very well because I am not sure I am receiving my messages correctly. I can use it fine apart from that but also can’t receive my email as easy as I would like.So I went for the Samsung A16 at John Lewis but I am having a problem receiving messages. I finally received one when I messaged my dad first and then he replied to it.
Is there another way of receiving them because when he sent me a message I didn't receive it.
I still want my iMessages from my iPad though?I suspect you have not de-registered from iMessage? Apple don't allow iMessage to work on other brands. If your phone number is still registered with iMessage then your Dad's iPhone will use that, instead of RCS or Text Messaging.
You may need to do the same with Facetime for the same reason.
Email should not be a problem. gmail and Samsung Mail both work well.
