Does it matter if they leak sound or not? Do you want BASS or bass? Will you just use them with your headphone amp, or should they also be usable with the Nano out and about?

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 380`s which are closed back so don`t leak much sound. They are a decent set of headphones though I wouldn`t really consider using them with a Nano, especially if you are listening to it on the move.

Which headphone Amp do you have?

Long term, personally I would be looking at two sets of headphones. One for the Nano and one for the headphone amp. Seeing as you have a cmoy at the moment you could try something like the Sennheiser PX 200`s which are a fair bit cheaper than the sets on your list. They are fairly light and collapsible plus closed back which would be good for on the move and not annoying fellow commuters too much. I`m thinking of these primarily to use with the Nano. When you are ready to upgrade your amp then you could start looking at some higher-end headphones and then just use the 200`s with the Nano.

Thanks for that , how do the PX 200 compare to the PX100 as I have a pair of 100's? and then how would the 200's compare to the Audio Technica ATH ES 55's?Also I only want One pair of Headphones and that is to use with my Headphone Amp for portable use. Thanks again.

Good question. Well I was very fond of my old 100`s but they sadly broke. A guy at work has some 200`s (he loves them and always has them hanging around his neck when I see him!) which I have heard and I must say I was very impressed. Very comfy and they did sound beefier than my old 100`s. Whilst saying that I have only heard them through his player and not the old player I used to use my 100`s on so it`s slightly difficult to make a direct comparison. Incidentally, we also listened to his Grado 125`s and the Sennheisers sounded better though I`m sure this to be a case of the Grados suiting a home set up best rather than a portable. Plus to be fair the Grados hadn`t been run in properly. This guy got the 200`s for £50 which is probably the most I would consider spending on a portable pair of headphones as I prefer to invest more in a main set of phones for use at home. They are smart looking and just the right size, not too big and not too small and they are on my to buy list.

I haven`t heard the Audios though understand they are well thought of. Think they are nearer the £80 mark and not being foldable means I have ruled these out. I notice though that your list of possibles includes headphones that mostly cost more so that might not be an issue for you.

Good luck.
