This one would have been started sooner or later ...

Cambridge audio Dacmagic

built-in DAC in my HK 990

Benchmark DAC 1

NAD M51

I really like the functionalities and sound of M51 and I got it at a really good price. Have also been very happy with the Benchmark but it really lacked a remote control & a decent volume control to control my monitors.

Well apart from the ones that are fitted in all CD players etc....

I am assuming you mean stand-alone DACS then the answer is one:-

Stello DA220 Mk2

Oh and the one in my Colorfly C4 Pro, Oppo 105 etc

Audiolab M-DAC (very good)

Arcam Sonlink (does OK in the dining room)

Audiolab M-DAC Level 3 "Toy" upgrade (gobsmackingly brilliant)

Soon to arrive: Devialet 170 (it's got a DAC in it plus some other stuff apparently)

The only stand alone DAC I've owned is a Firestone Audio Fubar 4, still using it to connect my TV to my stereo and for headphone amp duties.

Musical Fidelity M1 DAC (Good but a bit dry)

PS Audio DLIII (loved it)

Rega DAC (Ok.. Didn't really understand all the fuss about it)

Pioneer N-50 (Very good but Airplay was a bit dodgy)

Marantz NA7004 (Overall Decent)

Grand Fidelity Tube DAC 11 (Crazy transformer hum - not worth the hype)

Classe CP-800 (Very good, clean, fast but slightly analytical)

Oppo BDP-105 (Fast & Musical - Best on the whole, especially with all the added functionality)

My take - no more stand alone DACs for me (since Oppo). As all my music is on NAS, it has to be a streamer / player + DAC at the minimum.

Future - Devialet in some time

1. Cambridge Audio first DAC...cant recall the model in 1998

2. Musical Fidelity X-DAC with HDCD in 1999

3. Musical Fidelity M1 DAC in 2010 (main set up)

4. ARCAM rDAC in 2010 for lounge...sold it off after 2 months... Worst DAC encounter

5. UD100 USB DAC for office in 2012

6. Musical Fidelity M6 DAC in 2013 (current and its a keeper)

7. UD110 USB DAC for office in 2013 (just received a week ago and going under review now)

DAC section of my RZ-1 (I'll count it because it can take multiple digital inputs).

Firestone Audio FUBAR IV (combined DAC/headphone amp, currently being used to run a small pair of active speakers).

Audio Alchemy DDE V.3.0 with Power Station 3.

Used it for years and only stopped using it a couple of years ago when I bought a stand alone CD player.

Currently looking for my next DAC to make the move to either a UnitiServe or Mac Mini.

Yulong DAH Mark2 - Punches well above it's price point and doubles as a superb headphone amp.
Decco 2 Amp/Preamp/Headphone amp/DAC Very highly regarded and a good all in one but I prefer the Yulong as it is more detailed.

Hi all, just joined the forum

My DAC list so far is.

1. Musical Fidelity V-DACII - long gone, and happily forgotton.

2. Devilsound Halide DACD HD - excellent natural sounding dac until it stopped working after 2 months!

3. M-DAC - still got it but not in use much

4. Musical Paradise MP-D1 DAC - my main dac and sounds wonderfully natural and dynamic using Bendix 6385 valves, beats the M-DAC easily IMO! Also a bit of a bargain. No upgrade plans anytime soon.
