Indeed not.
And I was under the impression that ANY use of i-player was forbidden without a licence - which is what the MSE site makes clear (OK for other channels catchup services).

MSE is always spot on with all the (very complicated) T&C for savings accounts etc - I'd be more than surprised if they're wrong about TV licence requirement.

Nope. You can use iPlayer to view S4C on demand content on iPlayer.

It's hidden in the smallprint below

Under the section were it says "Make sure you're legally covered"

But it's in BBC/TVL interests to confuse and make things as difficult as possible for people by using deliberately ambiguous wording and the use of smallprint....

The Beeb has a great many flaws, but trying to stop people illegally accessing its content seems fair enough to me (Amazon/Apple/Disney etc do the same, I strongly suspect.) - if that comes down to ambiguous wording I don't think that's the greatest of sins.

They could easily stop people accessing iPlayer by linking it to a valid TV licence, but instead they choose to confuse and scare people into thinking they need one even if they don't.

That's what I take issue with.

Big deal, S4C 🤪
No good to me (and a majority of others).

They reckon 3000 people are licenced for black and white only.

I'd be surprised if they're legit.

TVL make it difficult to to buy a B&W licence these days.

You have to phone them and pay buy card or set up a DD, or you can send them a cheque in the post (who even has a cheque book anymore) I believe. You can't do it online.

(I've got a 405 line telly in the loft....but I think they stopped transmitting to it in the 1980s).

405 line ceased in January '85
