matthewpiano:So far this morning:

Hot Fuss (The Killers)
Perfect Symmetry (Keane)

Both proof that there is still excellent pop/rock music being produced and very very enjoyable. I've been listening to the new Killers album a lot as well and that is superb.

Strewth - it'll be "The Best of the X Factor" next

Waiting to find out who the new doctor who will be but so far this afternoon its been

Kraftwerk, Trans-Europe Express ('nuff said)

Bon Iver, For Emma Forever Ago (First listen can't quite make my mind up yet will need at least one more)

Clinic, Walking With Thee (Underated but absolute class from 2001)

The Vampire Weekend album in the car today. Like it very much - some fairly strong resonances of Paul Simon's 'Graceland' in the use of African rhythms etc.

Now listening to the MGMT album.

You can't bracket The Killers and Keane into the same category as the X-Factor. They are both talented bands with a more pop-oriented twist and their albums are genuinely good. Not as inventive as Muse or as exciting as the Foo Fighters, but very enjoyable never-the-less.

Don't be sorry!!!! I only like certain bands/artists in mainstream pop anyway, and if we were all the same the world would be boring and this forum wouldn't exist!!

Currently watching 'The Seven Ages of Rock' programme 1. Loads about Hendrix here and very enjoyable.

'In The Court Of The Crimson King' by King Crimson right now. Always forget what a brilliant album this is until I listen to it and realise it really is one of my top ten favourite albums of all time.

The Last Puff by Spooky Tooth
Medusa by Trapeze
Phantasmagoria by Curved Air
Bridge of Sighs by Robin Trower

Just fitted a new cartridge and gone back in time

On vinyl. Still brilliant and slightly scary after all these years.

This afternoon its been:

Curved Air: Phantasmagoria (I'd forgotten how strange it is in places but very enjoyable nonetheless)

Barclay James Harvest: Everyone Is Everybody Else (Their best album IMO)

Neil Young: Chrome Dreams II (His strongest offering for some time, particularly welcome after 'Living With War' which I hated)

Maestoso: One Drop In A Dry World (The band of BJH's Woolly Woolstenholme. One of 3 excellent albums they've released in the last few years.

Consolers of the Lonely by the Raconteurs
Script for a Jesters Tear by Marillion and
Wheels of Fire by Cream (LP) whilst I type this. Well the Spoonful track

Glad you dug out the Curved Air

Forgotten Sons is one of my top 10 favourite tracks and the line "For a second you'll be famous but forever posthumous" one of my favourite lines

Playing Scorpions Platinum collection CD1

Apologise if this looks a mess but this is the third time I've tried to post this tonight, my editing skils are not very good.
