jimdonnelly:Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan - Ballad of the Broken Seas

FOPP selling this for £3.00 - it is a must for everyone's collectionis the new one any good?

i saw Isobel guest with Howe Gelb a few months back (ok more like a year) and she was shocking. couldn't even remember the words to her own song (Rambling Man)

Currently listening to Silver Jews - Lookout mountain, lookout sea which followed tanglewood numbers. stated with B&S tigermilk, just so i could prove the g/f wrong!

Fast Eddie

I personally prefer Ballad to the new one, where Isobel seems to take more of a back seat and lets Mark front it. A friend seen them play recently and was blown away by their performance. Maybe she had an off night when you seen her (always annoying when they have an off night at your gig!)

she just sat and giggled like a moron, but yeah it could have been an off night.

i may have to try the new one then. if marks playing a bigger part that has to be good (from the last one his were the best tracks.

Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip - Angles.

Knocks 'The Streets' into a cocked hat.

Suffocation "Souls To Deny" LP on Relapse, Venetian Snares "Detrimentalist" LP on Planet Mu and I've been pulling out some old LPs on the Digital Hardcore (DHR) label. Plus a load of Warp stuff on CD (Autechre, Squarepusher, LFO) recently purchased in a sale.

Low-level jets rehearsing for next week's air show. Fortunately today's a writing day not a listening one, but the sheer house-shaking sound pressure levels put what a home cinema system can do into some kind of perspective.

Coroner - No More Color.
Gojira - From Mars To Sirius.

And currently listening to Danny Baker on BBC London 94.9.

Abba - Waterloo (vinyl)

Buckingham/Nicks - Buckingham/Nicks (vinyl)

Renaissance - Ashes Are Burning (cd)

Fairport Convention - Fairport Convention (vinyl)

Slade - B Sides (dble cd)
