I must listen to that new Paul Lewis release. The gold standard in that repertoire for me is Alfred Brendel on Philips, so it will be fascinating to see how Mr Brendel's protegee approaches Schubert's wonderful piano writing.

Decided to start working my way through Daniel Barenboim's stylish traversal of the Mozart Piano Concertos again, beginning with Concertos 1 and 2 tonight. Beautiful piano playing and nicely proportioned orchestral forces.

although for me Murray Perahia's recording of the Mozart piano concertos are sublime. Especially No 21 which is god like. Anyway I'll give these versions a spin.

Oh, I'm not saying these are definitive by any means. They are one of several excellent recordings, although the sound is not ideal. I agree that Perahia's recordings are superb, as are those by Mitsuko Uchida. I also love Geza Anda's DG recordings and recordings of individual concertos by Clifford Curzon and Solomon amongst others.

Playing in chronological order, firstly Deuce and now Calling Card. Terrific musician was our Rory.
