I can help you there. It's rather splendid and self indulgent.
Why I like A.A.L more than pretty much any other instrumental album, is precisely for it not being monotonous. All the songs are different, all the songs are interesting. Rare is the instrumental album that I can listen to from start to finish in one hit without skipping tracks.

It is splendid, with a bit of self-indulgence that is typical of the post rock genre. Presently listening to The Beta Band, continuing the tradition of British eccentric prog rock that goes back to the likes of Captain Beefheart.
Amazon has the CD version of the above for £18 or the SHM-SACD for £75, while HDtracks.com has an 88kHz/24bit DL for $18 (£11). I am partial to SHM-SACDs, but...

Just being pedantic but I thought Beefheart were American.
