Some catching up to do. First, Demians, French heavy prog where the emphasis is on the rock and they sound more American than anything else. The whole album is in English. They are the first French band I have found.

Sweden's Isildurs Bane. Good old fashioned, eclectic, symphonic prog rock, a very interesting listen

Germany's Blind Ego. Some what formulaic metal/rock. Pompous, over dramatic, too mid Atlantic in sound for me.

From Uzbekistan, the band are called Fromuz. The album is instrumental and a huge mix of styles from jazz to metal to more traditional prog rock. Recommended.

From the US, Echolyn. Fast paced jazzy rock in the style of Spocks Beard

From California and very highly recommended is the band (solo project really, by Jimmy LaValle) The Album Leaf. Mellodic, instrumental, toured with Sigur Ros, think also Boards of Canada in style,absolutely beautiful relaxation music. All of the albums I have heard have been as good as each other.

Again from the US the excellent Modest Mouse. Very enjoyable indie in the style of Eels and Beck.

Cheers for reminding me of him! I loved his previous LP "In a Safe Place" but somehow I have never gotten around to checking out his other stuff.
